Job Purpose/Summary:
“Business Intelligence” – meaning a resource center for any function or business unit in the company to go to if they need information on just about any subject. This team would have the experience and talent in research and writing to produce a backgrounder on any subject, translate business impact through their tight connections with the business units, stakeholders, and government officials, produce one-pagers for use by any Tyson team member conducting external engagement, even drafting speeches on topics with their access to all Tyson data or the ability to track it down internally. In other words, more than a regulatory role and honestly one of these roles especially needs someone experienced in research, writing, organizing briefing books and drafting of comments to regulatory documents and data analytics for decision making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate within the regulatory and government affairs policy network, BUs and across research and development (R&D) to identify and prioritize topics of high impact to Tyson’s pipeline
Assess strategically external regulatory developments and support decision-making process to understand internal and external impacts, cross-geographical effects, and develop strategies to achieve desired policy outcomes
Manage and direct policy projects by leading cross-functional experts to align internally, support executive level engagement, and demonstrate leadership externally with key stakeholders
Formulate and shape policies and positions for identified priority topics; draft comments to be submitted directly or shared with stakeholders for submission to USDA/FDA
Develop and implement clear regulatory policy advocacy strategies supported by proactive internal and external communication plans
Assist efforts in coordinating Tyson’s engagement in key industry trade associations, work groups, and Committees
Represent, and speak on behalf of, Tyson in external forums and communications
Provide strategic regulatory and government policy and intelligence support for the Tyson pipeline and portfolio
Help to ensure clear visibility of pending changes, new regulations, and emerging trends to help drive compliance, create company positions on priority topics, and advocacy strategies to advance global initiatives
Be highly visible inside and outside the company to proactive shape the regulatory environment to help expedite Tyson’s pipeline
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in a regulated environment. A working understanding of USDA and FDA regulation. Understanding of different regulatory systems and frameworks, globally
Communication Skills: Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
Special Skills: High customer focus. Embrace change and should possess the ability to effectively work in an international and multicultural environment
Travel: Some travel required (approx. 10-20%)
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph. D in food science or related field
