Well known and highly desirable company looking for a senior level Application Manager who will oversee 5 - 7 Programmer Analysts and be r
esponsible for successful completion of business application objectives on time and within budget.
Some of the duties include:
Develops understanding of the user communitys business functions and how computing systems might assist in resolving needs.
Translates these needs into system development requirements.
Responsible for developing cost/benefit and return on investment analysis to assist in prioritizing application enhancements and or purchases as they relate to the company's strategic IT plan.
Utilize effective verbal and written communications skills in leading user group discussions and technical development sessions through all phases of application enhancement definition, construction, and implementation.
Manage and/or participate in the creation of requests for proposals and review third party application software to assist in determining its potential for achieving solutions to system objectives.
Communicate effectively with application providers, internal/external development and IT Services staff to ensure a comprehensive account of each projects detail tasks, requirements, and scope.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of detail project plans.
Position Responsibilities:
Conducts and/or participates in feasibility studies for proposed systems and modifications to existing systems.
Interface continuously with user groups in analyzing corporate business application enhancement opportunities.
Conduct meetings with user groups, internal/external development staff, and application vendors to aid in the completion of accurate and specific documentation of application/deployment projects.
Evaluate current technology and trends to provide purchase recommendations for achieving solutions to business application objectives.
Utilize computerized tools to complete process and logic flows, requirement, design specifications, standardized reporting and screen design layouts.
Assist in the development and maintenance of detailed project plans, task lists and cost/benefit analysis for individual business application objectives.
Applies business process re-engineering to make the business more effective along with or in place of, new systems or enhancements.
Participates in system acceptance, validation, and verification.
Manage and/or participate in vendor software evaluations.
Be an evolving and passionate agent of change in guiding business user groups down the path of continuous process and systems improvement.
Manage and assist in the development of test plans, assist in testing and coordinate user acceptance testing.
Act as liaison with IT services organization to facilitate implementation & completion of business application objectives.
Maintain and enforce published IT Standard Operating Procedures for designing, coding, and testing.
Manage the IT Change Control process for an Application Area.
Manage & supervise internal & external IT development resources for an Application Area.
Skill and Experience
Minimun three years supervisory experience in information technology applications management.
Ability to understand the business processes in the user community.
Comprehensive understanding of the systems development process, with expertise in the requirements and external design phases of a system life cycle.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, both formal and informal. Including the ability to communicate in both technical and business language.
Ability to develop relationships with the user community, software vendors and IT personnel, exercising strong interpersonal skills.
Good project management skills in planning and tracking projects is desirable
Bachelors degree, preferably in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Science.
