General Description of Position:

Provides overall supervision and leadership for the Columbus Service Area Cohort Programs, including the Advantage Shelby Scholarship Program and the Accelerated Programs (Columbus ASAP, MUTC Cyber Academy, Advantage Shelby ASAP, Franklin ASAP, Columbus Ivy Accelerate (Adult Program). The ASAP programs provide the structure for students to achieve an ASAP/MUTC accelerated associate degree in eleven months or an Ivy Accelerate certificate in one year or associate degree in two. The Advantage Shelby Scholarship Program is a two-year college scholarship program specifically aimed at raising educational attainment and workforce readiness in Shelby County. The Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the Advantage Shelby Scholarship Director and ASAP program coordinators, while also serving as coordinator of a designated program(s) in the Columbus Service Area. The Executive Director provides leadership for supporting students during the program, and assisting students as they leave the program in transferring to a four-year institution or the workforce. The Executive Director also provides leadership and supervision for developing and coordinating all accelerated academic programs and enrichment activities to complement course instruction. The Executive Director will be tasked with providing a structure that considers the general welfare of students, promotes the personal growth and development of students, and complements and supplements experiences in the learning community. The Executive Director is assigned multi-site oversight and responsibilities and will work with additional supervisors of the cohort coordinators, as they will likely hold multiple responsibilities within their position.

Major Responsibilities:

This position may encompass any or all of the following:

Program Leadership/Oversight - works closely with individual cohort coordinators, as well as additional supervisors of these cohort coordinators, to achieve the following:

In collaboration and cooperation with the campus Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Assistant Vice President of K-14 Initiatives & ASAP and other campus or System Office leadership, develops goals and objectives related to accelerated programs that are in line with statewide initiatives and provides leadership in the implementation of these goals and objectives.

Collaborates with the Advantage Shelby Scholarship Director, as well as the Advantage Shelby Board of Directors, to ensure that the scholarship continues to grow and provide opportunities for Shelby County students.

Ensures that College policies and processes are followed, as outlined by key campus areas, such as enrollment, academic advising, registration, etc.

Participates in efforts supporting the cohort programs’ role in increasing retention and completion metrics as identified in the college’s strategic plan.

Works closely with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Executive Director of Finance to develop an annual budget.

Monitors, manages, and provides leadership for program budgets, including student stipend/fellowship processing, enrichment funds, adjunct funds, etc.

Helps the Ivy Tech Foundation secure external funds by assisting in the grant writing process.

Collaborates with other faculty and staff members to promote the value of diversity among students.

Collects/maintains student demographics, course eligibility information and performance indicators (i.e. EFC, loans, financial aid, stipends/fellowships, gender, Grit Scale score, high school transcription information, attendance, grade tracking, etc. with assistance from cohort coordinators).

Supervises work-study and/or clerical staff.

Supervises other exempt staff.

Orders and maintains purchase requisitions of learning community materials and supplies.

Encourages collaboration between cohort coordinators by maintaining. communication between coordinators and holding frequent leadership meetings.

When appropriate, lead development and implementation of new or expansion of existing programs.

Academic Affairs

Works closely with program chairs and faculty to design program degree curriculum that is highly transferable to four-year institutions in the local and regional area.

Coordinates block scheduling cohorts for accelerated programs.

Collaborates with instructors for implementation of integrative course work, assessment of student progress and identification of needed interventions.

Assists cohort coordinators in the creation and implementation of enrichment and leadership activities.

Represents the cohort programs by attending academic affairs campus leadership meetings.

Student Recruitment

Designs, organizes, and executes cohort candidate recruitment strategy in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services, campus recruiters, and cohort coordinators.

Assists local Marketing and Communication department in the creation of program recruitment documents (i.e., application, promotional materials, mail merges, etc.).

Collaborates and coordinates recruitment efforts with the campus admissions team.

Represents cohort programs by attending enrollment services campus leadership meetings.

Student Support Mentor

Using a holistic approach and a proactive mentoring style, supports students through academic, social and personal challenges to successful program completion.

Assists in helping to resolve life circumstances that inhibit student academic commitment.

Collaborates with additional college personnel (i.e., financial aid, registrar, academic support services, tutoring, library, student life, etc.), to assist cohort students with resources to promote their success and program completion.

Provides leadership for student counseling, career counseling, transfer pathways, assessment and testing.

Works with faculty teams to develop, communicate and assess individual intervention plans with accelerated students, as needed.

Supports cohort coordinators in the design and implementation of the enhanced cohort orientation experience.

Supports cohort coordinators in development and implementation of the welcome, end-of-year, and term celebrations.

Develops and maintains relationships with four-year transfer institutions

Represents cohort programs by attending student success campus leadership meetings.

Advantage Shelby Scholarship Program

Provides oversight and leadership to the Advantage Shelby Scholarship Director and team.

Works with the Advantage Shelby Scholarship Director to enhance program outcomes including new student enrollment and retention and completion in the program.

Supports the Advantage Shelby Program staff, students, and board members in the continued evaluation and development of the program (i.e., review approved academic programs and make recommendations to administration and the Advantage Board, support student programming, including the annual leadership day retreat, and enhance student engagement on the Shelbyville campus.

Develops and maintains relationships with the Advantage Shelby Board members

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, student personnel, management or related field required.

Three or five years’ experience in educational programming serving diverse student populations (preferable secondary and/or postsecondary public institution).

Experience in teaching, counseling, advising, case management, or Individual Academic Plan development.

Must demonstrate excellent communication and team building skills, the ability to be decisive, and provide leadership in a community college setting.

Must have the ability to work well with persons from various social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.

Knowledge of computer applications and familiarity with computerized records systems required.

A passion for seeing students succeed and a high-level of integrity and regard for higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's or doctorate degree in education, counseling, student personnel, management or a related field preferred.

Reports to:

Matrix reporting structure = solid line to Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs or academic affairs designee and dotted line to Assistant Vice President of K-14 Initiatives & ASAP.

Work Hours:

Hiring Range:

$65,000 - $75,000

Team Ivy Referral:

$250
