Earning a Six-figure Salary

If you feel that making a salary in six figures requires extremely high-flying qualifications or credentials, you need to check your facts again. You may have heard from others around you that you need a medical or a law degree to be earning a high salary. Thus logically, to earn a high salary, you probably need to go get yourself a marketing manager's job, for which, the first condition would be to earn a good management degree.

But what you need to also look at is other careers that may be paying a higher salary to you. Does such a scenario exist? In certain careers, it may be possible to earn more, and maybe even a six-figure salary if you happen to choose wisely and if you add other angles to the entire package. These angles could be overtime, where you can earn a little bit more to complement your basic income. Many of these jobs, surprisingly, are unlike a marketing manager's job where you need a technical degree followed up with a management degree at the master's level. Several of these livelihood opportunities are purely technical and skill-based jobs that require you to provide a focused output.

Take for example, the mining manager's job. This work is usually not given to a management graduate. Mostly, mining companies do not hire a manager directly; they will promote someone from a lower position to a higher position gradually. This not only allows the person of authority at higher level to understand the work well, it also allows for professional growth and higher job satisfaction. There are several other such industries where promotions are achieved on the basis of gradual increase in position as well as on the basis of skills acquired over the years that a professional has spent in a particular organization. This trend is totally different from what is seen in a management professional life.

To excel professionally in a marketing managers job or to get a high salary, the professional must prove his or her worth. Plus, due to the competitive nature of markets these days, it is very important to remain updated on all the latest happenings in the field if you want to receive timely promotions and pay raises. In contrast, a job like that of a registered coach can also fetch you a high salary if you identify a lucrative area of work and are a dedicated worker who can also invest in some overtime.

Also, do not forget that salaries can be different in different cities. Pay scales in a big city like New York could be significantly higher than those in other areas, especially when compared to a smaller town. Demand of certain skilled labor can also differ in these cities and thus, someone like a printing plant operator may earn a lot more – as much as 30 dollars or more per hour, than someone in a smaller town. This can be further driven higher by putting in overtime. Thus, you don't always need a marketing managers job to have a six figure salary. You need to identify the demand in the market and accordingly, work towards filling it.
