Having a degree in multimedia will help, particularly if it has to do with 3D modeling, as that is what most games are based on now.
A degree of that nature can be obtained in about two years, and it too may lead to one of the many 6 figure jobs out there. If your ultimate goal is to become a video game designer, then being a video game tester is definitely a good jumping off point. If your plan is to stick with video game testing, then that is one of the great 100k jobs as well!
