It might sound a little odd, but it is indeed possible make over 100k per year playing video games. If your mother ever told you that you'd get nowhere sitting there playing those games, then you'll be glad to know that she was dead wrong! The question you might have right now is why there are 6 figure jobs available for playing video games.

The thing is: video games are actually quite difficult to create. There are entire worlds to build; from the buildings, to the terrain, to the people in them. Games are becoming more and more interactive and realistic, which leaves much more possibility for error now than ever before.

The 100k jobs in game testing have to do with going through the games and playing every single aspect of them. This might sound easy, considering it's a game, but it is actually very time consuming, and something that the developers themselves simply do not have the time to do. That is why they hire video game testers to make sure that everything is done right.

Let's take for example a video game that has a side story which involves answering telephones. If one of those telephones does not work properly, then the entire game will be thrown off balance. This means that someone is going to have to go through the entire game and answer every single telephone, making sure that it works, and of course making sure that the phone gives the right message. Before you ask, yes, there is a game that forced the player to do this. No, we're not going to go into detail.

These are great 100k jobs, not just because you get to play the games, but because you get to have a part in making sure the game is delivered to the public in working condition, and even the opportunity to help the developers improve upon it. All in all, you will be charged with helping to make the game great.

Getting into this industry however will be the hard part. It's not just anyone that can give intelligent feedback on a video game, and if you feel that you are the right person for the job, you will need to prove it. Having a degree in multimedia will help, particularly if it has to do with 3D modeling, as that is what most games are based on now.

A degree of that nature can be obtained in about two years, and it too may lead to one of the many 6 figure jobs out there. If your ultimate goal is to become a video game designer, then being a video game tester is definitely a good jumping off point. If your plan is to stick with video game testing, then that is one of the great 100k jobs as well!

It may be a difficult field to get into, but it's definitely worth all the trouble that you will have to go through. So stay the course and make sure you meet all of the requirements. If you need more information on it, then make sure that you talk to those who have already been in the field, as they can provide you invaluable information. Above all, have fun, because jobs over 100k are hard to come by!
