The fabricated information usually comes from a person's resume which is presented during a job interview. Some have even gone so far as to state that they have advanced degrees from reputable colleges or universities. Of course having the information beforehand in no way guarantees that you will actually get the job that you seek, but it never hurts to be prepared.
